FCNRCD's 80th Birthday Party!

FCNRCD is turning 80 years old! Join us on the evening of Monday, July 13th, 2026 at the Fairfield Community Center to celebrate this milestone and reflect on eight decades of serving Franklin County.

Come gather for an evening of local history and good food. Pizza fresh from the Community Center’s wood-fired oven, along with light refreshments, will be served throughout the event. Take part in a raffle featuring local farm products and learn about the District’s history, accomplishments, and lasting impact across the region.

Please RSVP so we can plan accordingly for food and refreshments, and indicate any dietary restrictions in the RSVP form. And please bring your own chair if possible, as seating will be limited.

Some history: Following the Dust Bowl and the creation of the USDA–Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), local conservation leadership began to take shape across the country. The first Natural Resources Conservation District (NRCD) was established in 1937 to bring conservation planning to the local level. Vermont soon followed, creating the Vermont State Natural Resources Conservation Council (NRCC) in 1939 under the Soil Conservation Act. Just a few years later, on April 26, 1946, the Franklin County NRCD was formed, marking the beginning of 80 years of community-driven conservation in our region.
